The process behind the reproduction of fine art is a careful balance between science & the soul. When an artist brings their work to be photographed it is often the culmination of days, weeks or maybe even months of hard work. Each artist seeks to produce something unique & individual through the balance of: colour, tone, shape, texture & line.

At bigcheese, we have many years of experience working with creative people & will carefully consult with the artist about how they wish to best to present their work. Using our experience we can: enhance or minimise textures, brighten or subdue colours, accentuate shape or bring out hitherto unseen characteristics within a piece whether it is 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional.

We understand the relationships between lighting, colour, tone & texture, always ensuring the methods we use are best suited to the individual artwork & where possible, the final print process.

We are able to offer bespoke retouching, tonal range adjustment, selective/local colour correction & grading & pre-press/print advice for artists requiring the highest levels of care & attention to the finished result.

Many artists are finding short, web based video clips particularly useful & they are especially suited to 3-dimensional art such as glass, metallics & ceramics.

Our technical, yet sympathetic & creative approach brings another dimension to fine art reproduction & allows the artist the opportunity to show their work to a wider audience.
